Meet Our Founder
Andrea Durham is a sports professional and entrepreneur who founded both EmpowerHER Athletics and Minority Women in Sports,Inc. organizations dedicated to creating opportunities for women and girls in the sports industry.
Her journey began with a passion for sports and a commitment to helping others succeed. After earning a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Tennessee State University and a Master’s in Athletic Training from Seton Hall University, Andrea built a career as a licensed athletic trainer, educator, and advocate for diversity in sports.
Recognizing the lack of resources and representation for women, particularly minorities, Andrea launched Minority Women in Sports Medicine, Inc. in 2020. The organization would later evolve into Minority Women in Sports, Inc., broadening its focus to provide mentorship, scholarships, and community programs for women pursuing careers across all areas of sports. She later founded EmpowerHER Athletics in 2024, expanding her mission to include leadership development, consulting, and digital entrepreneurial and career development tools for young women and girls.
Based in the Washington D.C. area, Andrea continues to lead efforts that empower the next generation of women to thrive in sports and beyond.
